Moldering Tombs… 19th Century Woodworkers Books

Nov 1, 2020 | Other

I’m cleaning out the office today preparing for ingress and egress of a stove pipe… and I keep coming across phenomenal books for a winter read.
The first picture includes two books that I spent a few years looking for back in around 2005. I wanted a 19th C reference book for woodworking… kind of like a machinery’s handbook. It was kind of funny… years spent looking and then boom… I found two in the same month.
The one on the right dates 1871 and the one on the left dates about the same period because it discusses census data from 1870. It basically covers topics for the beginning of the diy movement (every man his own mechanic). I find the wages and the professions a real hoot.
