Phillip Harris & Co. finds it origins back in Birmingham England back in 1817. They became a medical supplies company. This Turkish Boxwood rule is uncommon in a number of ways. Most boxwood caliper rules are 3” long, not 4” like this one. The other thing that is uncommon is that the scales are both Metric and British units.
It makes sense that a Birmingham business would distribute boxwood rules, as Birmingham was a centre for rule manufacture in the 19thC.
